Chapter 36 - Northwest Indiana

~ Creaky Knees and Rusty Keys ~

Brrr! Don't you love winter in Indiana? Well, the cold didn't keep you away, and we had a very warm crowd of 32 people come out for our January meeting/election at Gelsosomo's Pizza. It was great to see a nice group of newcomers visit us for the first time, and I hope they felt welcome and will return.

The election results were somewhat expected: Troy and I will continue to serve as your chapter officers for 2011. We appreciate your support and will try to keep this boat afloat for another year. Please send email to with your ideas and suggestions for contests, programs, or other entertainment for our meetings. Thanks!

Bruce, W9OTN, again came through for us with a very interesting show-and-tell presentation. Bruce is a builder, and making things work well is one of his passions in amateur radio. The item he showed us tonight was a matching Pi (π) network for the 160m band. In his quest for getting the design values just right, Bruce discovered a great tool on the Internet provided by the folks at Berkeley University. Surf over to their Impedance Matching Network Designer and see if this can help you too. Thanks Bruce for the excellent show-and-tell!
