Chapter 36 - Northwest Indiana

~ Creaky Knees and Rusty Keys ~

We had pretty fair weather for our December meeting, but the traffic in Merrillville was terrible since it was just days before Christmas. Even with the heavy traffic, we had a good turnout of 15 people attend the dinner meeting at Golden Corral. Good food and a good time was had by all.

Tom, W8FIB, brought our only show-and-tell for the evening. I hope you got to see his sampling of QSL cards which helped him to qualify just recently for the ARRL DXCC Challenge Award. This award is earned by working and confirming at least 1,000 DXCC band-points on any amateur bands, 160 through 6 meters (except 60 meters). That is indeed a challenge to accomplish! Congratulations Tom!

Next month completes 5 full years since we reorganized Chapter 36 in Feb. 2009. It also means it is time to elect officers! Won't you consider holding an office this year? There are only two! And it's pretty easy to get elected with our group... I guarantee it!

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

No photos this month. Sorry.
