Chapter 36 - Northwest Indiana

~ Creaky Knees and Rusty Keys ~

With a little warm up in our weather, we had 28 members and guests join us to try out yet another new restaurant, AJ's Pizza Company, for our April meeting. The place was packed and they could only spare one waitress, so she had to just about run her legs off to keep us supplied with food and drink. But it all worked out well in the end with a lot of happy faces and full bellies.

Along with the warm temperatures also came some high winds, and we were lucky to have Tom, W8FIB, and his wife Cindy attend this meeting. Tom had to cancel a dentist appointment... not for us, but because a large tree had fallen that morning at his home and knocked down some major power lines. The local utility got the mess cleaned up fairly quickly and power was restored, so they decided it must have been meant for them to come to dinner and be with us. Tom's cell phone photos were an impressive show-and-tell for the evening, but one that I'm sure he would rather have avoided.
