Chapter 36 - Northwest Indiana

~ Creaky Knees and Rusty Keys ~

We had a very good August meeting at Round-The-Clock in LaPorte, with 23 people attending. Our two servers did a good job, but they had other parties in the banquet room besides us, and that resulted in a bit of a wait on our food. It has been recommended that we stick with buffet-style restaurants to avoid the occasional problem we have with delays and/or incorrect orders, and I think that really is the best way for us to go. Buffets are a very good value, the food is ready when we are, and you can probably always find something that suites your taste.

It may be that my wife Deanna and I are the only people who save old ticket stubs! At least I didn't find anyone else who brought something for this month's contest. And I thought sure that someone would have World Series tickets with the Cubs! OK, maybe 1945 is a bit of a stretch to hope for. Well, below you can see my wife's ticket stub from a George Carlin performance at the Holiday Star in 1980, and also a pair of Deep Purple tickets that she and I went to in 1985... one of our early dates together. This year is a Quarter-Century celebration for us too!

Jim, KF9EX, got some great photos! (Click for larger view.)
